HONOLULU—Companies looking for talented kamaaina with technology skills are invited to participate in the High Technology Development Corporation’s (HTDC) 17th annual Holiday Tech Job Fair on Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural Center’s Manoa Grand Ballroom.
The event will feature employers from the tech, software, web and other innovation companies, and is an opportunity for Hawaii job seekers to network with high-growth companies to experience the latest innovative technologies being developed in Hawaii. In addition to the job fair that runs from 5 to 8 p.m., a networking reception will begin at 6 p.m., where participants can meet others in the tech and innovation community.
“The annual Holiday Tech Job Fair showcases incredible job opportunities that are right here in Hawaii,” said Luis P. Salaveria, director of the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, which oversees HTDC and promotes innovation sector job growth. “Many local companies have tech openings and want to invest in homegrown talent.”
The Tech Job Fair is open to all looking for jobs. Students and recent graduates who are seeking internships and apprenticeships in technology, engineering or sciences are encouraged to attend. Job openings are available from entry level to advanced positions. The free fair is open to the public and includes resume evaluations, as well as free professional headshots.
“Many students and kamaaina on the mainland don’t realize the breadth of technology job opportunities available here in the islands,” added Robbie Melton, executive director and CEO at HTDC. “The fair is just one way of getting us closer to our goal of creating 80,000 new tech and innovation jobs earning at least $80,000 by 2030.”
