Presentation to the Hawaii Interagency Council on Transit-Oriented Development by Kelly Kline, Economic Development Director and Chief Innovation Officer, City of Fremont, CA, who will describe how innovation industries can be supported by transit-oriented development (TOD) planning to advance both economic diversification and redevelopment goals. Ms. Kline will describe experiences with the Warm Springs/South Fremont Community Plan which centered on an innovation district and includes a BART station. One of the State of Hawaii’s goals is to diversify the economy by supporting innovation industries. The State also seeks to best utilize State lands near the rail stations. This presentation will provide a case study and description of ways to support innovation industries in TOD planning.
The Hawaii State Energy Office will host a public briefing to present the findings of a study requested by the Legislature to analyze the costs and benefits various models of utility ownership and regulation in Hawaii.
