Hawaii’s Quality of Life

In 2007, DBEDT and the UH Center on the Family partnered to develop a comprehensive set of Quality of Life (QOL) indicators. After reviewing numerous studies and hundreds of potential metrics, the partnership established 68 measures to track quality of life at both the state and county levels. These periodically updated indicators serve as a vital benchmark for monitoring residents’ standard of living and help identify factors that affect Hawaii’s ability to attract and retain skilled workers and high-growth companies.
