As we begin 2026 and embark on the legislative session, DBEDT’s work continues to focus on building a strong, balanced economy that creates opportunity across Hawaii. According to preliminary statistics from DBEDT, total spending by visitors in December 2025 was $2.12 billion (measured in nominal dollars), a 3.7 percent increase compared to December 2024.

DBEDT today announced that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for December was 2.2 percent, the same as in November.
