Project: Kuilei Place (Moʻiliʻili)

Kuilei Place (Moʻiliʻili)

Ground was broken in early April on the 1,005-unit affordable, for-sale Kuilei Place in Moʻilʻili. Governor Josh Green and HHFDC Executive Director Dean Minakami were joined by Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi, City Council Chair Tommy Waters, and the leadership team from Kobayashi Group to celebrate the milestone.

Project Overview

Sixty percent of the units are designated as affordable or workforce housing (80% to 140% AMI), specifically targeting high-demand professions like teachers and nurses. With over 85% of units already sold, this project serves as a vital resource for kamaʻāina workforce families.

DEP Program Eligibility

Purchasers may be eligible for HHFDC’s Dwelling Unit Revolving Fund Equity Pilot (DEP) program, which assists healthcare professionals, educators, and first responders through equity support. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Sustainable Design

As Governor Green noted, Kuilei Place features the state’s first residential on-site greywater reuse system. This innovation will recycle water from sinks, showers, and laundry, conserving approximately 11 million gallons annually.
