Project: Haʻupu View (Lihūʻe, Kauaʻi)
Haʻupu View (Lihūʻe, Kauaʻi)
Haʻupu View provides vital affordable housing options for the Lihūʻe community, following its successful completion and grand opening in late 2022.
Formerly known as Pua Loke Apartments, the Haʻupu View rental complex represents a significant investment in Kauaʻi’s affordable housing inventory. A formal blessing ceremony was held in September 2022 to commemorate the project’s completion and official opening.
The project consists of 54 rental units with a focus on serving diverse income levels within the community:
- Affordability Focus: 50 units are designated for households earning 60% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI).
- Workforce Housing: 4 units are reserved for households earning up to 100% AMI.
- Supportive Housing: 5 units are specifically set aside for individuals and families experiencing or transitioning out of homelessness.
Project Highlights & Community Support
- Supportive Services: Through a partnership with the Kauaʻi Community Alliance and other dedicated nonprofit organizations, residents in transition have access to comprehensive, on-site “wrap-around” services.
- HHFDC Strategic Support: HHFDC facilitated the development through low-interest loans from the Rental Housing Revolving Fund (RHRF) and the issuance of tax-exempt revenue bonds via the Hula Mae Multi-Family (HMMF) program.
