Waiākea Peninsula
Waiākea Peninsula is on the island of Hawaiʻi along the Hilo Bay shoreline, centrally located near downtown Hilo, Hilo Harbor, and the Hilo
The State of Hawai‘i, Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), and the Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority (HCDA) are working with consultants to prepare a preliminary strategic assessment of the approximately 79 acres of land DLNR owns at Waiākea Peninsula.
DLNR and HCDA are hosting a community meeting and open house on Monday, December 4, to discuss a study to re-envision the Waiākea Peninsula.
Project team members will discuss economic market studies and the potential land uses being evaluated. Project team members will also be available in an open house setting to hear your thoughts on:
- Examples of waterfront and other re-developments elsewhere
- Potential future land uses at Waiākea Peninsula
- Governance and land stewardship considerations
- Your other ideas for the future Waiākea Peninsula
