KOLOWALU PARK BLESSING AND GRAND OPENING

HONOLULU – Hawai‘i Community Development Authority (HCDA) will have the grand opening of the Kolowalu Dog Park on Saturday, February 8 at 9:30 a.m., following the blessing of all the Kolowalu Improvements and welcoming remarks at 9 a.m. at 1150 Queen Street, Honolulu.

“We are happy to invite the community to come and enjoy all that is new at the Kolowalu Park, especially the long-awaited new Dog Park,” said Craig Nakamoto, the executive director of HCDA. “Its design was inspired by the rich cultural history of the area, including agriculture and aquaculture.”

In 2024, HCDA installed new benches, picnic tables, adult fitness equipment and the very popular children’s playground on the makai side of Kolowalu Park. All these amenities will be blessed before the grand opening of the dog park on the mauka side.

These improvements and upgrades to Kolowalu Park and the crosswalk were made possible with funding from the Hawai‘i State Legislature, especially elected officials in the district.
