Kakaako Permits
Important information regarding permit processing for the Mauka Area:
Effective November 11, 2011, the Mauka Area Rules (Chapter 217, HAR) and Reserved Housing Rules (Chapter 218, HAR) supersedes the Mauka Area Rules (Chapter 22, HAR). Please refer to the 2011 Mauka Area Rules (Chapter 217, HAR) for information on type of permits, permit requirements, permit procedures and fees.
We note the following on permit processing:
- Project Authorization: All permits will require landowner and/ lessee authorization for agents to process permits. If the applicant and landowner are one in the same, then no permit authorization is required. You may use the following form to establish Project authorization.
- Permit Fees: Pursuant to Section 15-217-93, all Mauka Area Use permits will be charged a fee. The fee schedule can be found in Section 15-217-93 of the Mauka Area Rules. Payment will be required prior to approval of the permit. The fee is payable by cash or check and is non-refundable.
- Permit Processing: All Permit applications are to be dropped off at the HCDA office for processing. HCDA no longer processes permits ‘over the counter’; processing generally takes approximately 7 working days for renovations and Rule Clearance permits.
