First Three Homebuyers to Close under Hale Kamaʻāina Mortgage Program

The Hawaiʻi Housing Finance and Development Corporation has officially celebrated its first three homeowners to successfully complete their mortgage loans via the Hale Kamaʻāina Mortgage Program.

Through Hale Kamaʻāina, a couple purchased a three-bedroom townhome in Mililani. Another homeowner purchased a two-bedroom condominium in downtown Honolulu and the third homeowner purchased a one-bedroom condominium in Makiki.

By supporting economically integrated communities and long-term affordability, the program helps maximize State housing resources while creating lasting impact. Priority is given to projects serving households earning up to 140% of the area median income (AMI).

HALE KAMA’AINA MORTGAGE PROGRAM

Designed for first-time homebuyers, qualified borrowers may receive competitive fixed-rate 30-year mortgage financing with optional down payment assistance.

HHFDC currently has $30 million available for this program, which has successfully helped numerous local buyers achieve the dream of homeownership across the islands.
