Affordable for-sale Kuilei Place community breaks ground

Ground was broken in early April on the 1,005-unit affordable, for-sale Kuilei Place in Moʻilʻili.
Sixty percent of the units are designated as either affordable or workforce housing, between 80% and 140% of Area Median Income. The targeted group includes first-time homebuyers in careers that are in high demand such as teachers and nurses.
Visit www.kuileiplace.com to learn more about the Kobayashi Group, which headed the partnership, and the key roles that Hawaiʻi Housing Finance and Development Corporation – HHFDC — played in this project. More than 85% of the units, which include one-, two and three-bedroom homes, have already been sold. The target market includes kama’āina workforce families.
Some of the purchasers may be eligible for HHFDC’s new Dwelling Unit Revolving Fund Equity Pilot (DEP) program. Health care professionals, educators and first responders may be able to achieve homeownership as a result of the DEP program through HHFDC’s purchase of a portion of the equity in specific units. The project is expected to be completed in 2027.
